MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of our school-based health centers is to promote the health and wellness of the children in Central Louisiana through prevention programs, education, and needed health care services.
Primary Reasons for Visits and examples:
General Preventive Medicine (general medical exam, labs, vaccinations)
Head/Central Nervous System (headaches)
Ear/Nose/Throat (sore throat, common cold, earaches)
Musculoskeletal, trauma (sprains, strains, injury)
Other Mental and Behavioral Problems.
Examples of Educations Services provided by the Health Center:
Health Fairs
Nutrition /Activity Programs
Mentoring Groups, Student Conflict Mediation, Suicide Prevention
Breast Cancer Awareness programs
Classroom presentations on a variety of physical and mental health topics.
Community Outreach Efforts:
Sports and Wellness Physicals
Vaccinations and fundraising for the Children’s Miracle Network
To be enrolled, a student must have a consent form, signed by a parent/guardian and witnessed. Health professionals communicate with parents regarding student health needs by written notes, telephone calls, or personal visits.
